Meet Pierre, Andre, Francois, Jacques, Jean Claude, Juliette, Louie, Mirabelle, and Pascal: nine tiny puppies whose lives depended on urgent action.
When their owner experienced a medical emergency, leaving them hospitalized, these puppies were left alone in a house with their mom, Paris. Concerned neighbors noticed something wasn’t right and made the call that changed everything. Our Field Services team responded immediately and found nine puppies inside the home, so young that their eyes were still closed.
Time was critical.
Our team quickly brought the entire family to Columbus Humane, where they received immediate veterinary care and round-the-clock support. Thanks to the fast action of compassionate community members, Paris and each of her puppies received the care they desperately needed. Today, they are safe, healthy, and growing stronger.
But rescue is only the beginning.
Caring for puppies requires an extraordinary level of dedication, expertise, and resources. In those first crucial weeks, our staff fed each puppy every few hours, sanitized kennels constantly, and protected their fragile immune systems with isolation gowns, gloves, and shoe covers. Every moment of care mattered.
At four weeks old, the puppies transitioned into a foster home, where they could continue growing strong while receiving critical socialization and supervision. After a successful stay in foster, all nine puppies returned to Columbus Humane for their spay and neuter procedures.
We’re thrilled to share that each member of the “French Fry” litter is thriving in their new homes. Every one of the puppies has been adopted, a testament to what’s possible when a community comes together. Mama Paris (pictured below) has since returned from her foster home and is patiently waiting here at the shelter for her forever family.
Stories like Pierre’s and his siblings are inspiring, but they also highlight a reality many don’t see. Young lives entering our shelter require constant supervision, specialized medical care, formula, enrichment, frequent cleaning, and protective equipment to prevent illness. The costs add up quickly, but every one of these young lives deserves a chance to grow up safe, healthy, and loved.

Paris is a spunky, sweet, almost 2-year-old girl who's ready to be someone's one and only. She absolutely loves going on walks, playing with her many toys, and soaking up LOTS of attention from her people. When playtime is over, Paris is happiest curled up close for cuddles and quality time.
As a young dog, she's still learning, but is doing great with potty training, and is even comfortable in her crate! She's eager to please, very smart, and picks up new tricks quickly. Paris would thrive in a home where she can be the only dog and truly be the center of attention she deserves.
