Safe Haven for Pets
The Safe Haven for Pets (Safe Haven) program was created in 2006 to assist the pets of the victims of domestic violence. Our program provides veterinary care, food and shelter to an average of 50 animals annually, at no cost. The average length of stay for a Safe Haven pet is between 35 and 45 days, far longer than that of our adoptable animals. We receive referrals from LSS CHOICES, the Center for Family Safety and Healing, Columbus Police Department as well as other social service organizations, hospitals and churches.
