Columbus Humane is proud to introduce Spay It Forward, a new program at our Essential Care Center on South High dedicated to protecting the health and well-being of rabbits in our community.
Across Central Ohio, more and more rabbits are arriving at shelters in need of care. At Columbus Humane, our intake waitlist has grown to more than 100 rabbits. Many come from unplanned litters, and as their numbers increase, so does the need for care. This can place a strain on families, shelters, and, most importantly, the animals themselves.
Every rabbit who enters our shelter requires food, housing, and veterinary care. By investing in prevention, we can help families, reduce pressure on shelters, and most importantly, protect animals from unnecessary suffering. Together, we’re building a more humane Columbus for all creatures.
Affordable spay and neuter options for rabbits are limited in our region, making it difficult for families to access the care their pets need. Without these options, rabbits can reproduce quickly, and the cycle continues.
Thanks to the generosity of donors, Columbus Humane now offers low-cost spay and neuter surgeries for rabbits through our Essential Care Center.

Supporting a rabbit’s health and well-being through preventative veterinary care and vaccinations, giving them the best chance at long, happy lives.
