How do I get services?

Every person looking for pet food pantry services and/or veterinary care should begin by making your appointment for the Columbus Humane Essential Care Center. Pet food pantry services and wellness exams can be scheduled at the button above. At your first visit to the Essential Care Center, you will be provided a key-tag tied to your client profile that you can use to schedule any services in the future and quickly reference your client information.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes, appointments are required for pet food pantry services and veterinary services. Appointments can be made at the button above.

What kind of species do you serve?

Currently, the Columbus Humane Essential Care Center can serve dogs and domestic cats in our veterinary clinic and pet food pantry. We do occasionally have pocket pet food and supplies in our Pet Food Pantry. Our pet food pantry is intended to feed domestic, indoor cats–ask us about our community cat program if you are caring for colonies of stray or feral cats.

How much pet food do you provide?

We provide every family with as much as we can offer at each appointment. Inventory varies daily and is 100% supplied through donations. Additional pet food pantry resources can be found here on our website.

What type of food and supplies do you offer?

Our inventory is dependant on donations received and is subject to change often. We typically have dog and cat kibble, wet dog and cat food and cat litter on hand. Other goods like pet beds, toys, collars, treats, etc. are sometimes available depending on inventory.

Why are there no appointments available when I try to schedule online?

Available appointments are indicated in green on the online scheduler. If there are no days highlighted in green, there are no appointments available at that time. New appointments are made available every Monday, so check back with us weekly.

Do you have prescription food?

Yes, with a prescription from a veterinarian permitting. Please email petfood@columbushumane.org to check if we carry your pet’s prescription.

Can I pick up food for others?

Yes, if multiple households are carpooling, an appointment must be made for each household and a member of each household must be present during the scheduled appointment.

How are you funded?

Columbus Humane is a local, nonprofit founded in 1883. We are overwhelmingly funded by generous individuals in our community. We rely heavily on the support of our community to provide the highest quality of care to pets and their people. Our teaching programs and generous donations from our community make it possible for us to keep our prices very low.
